The Island Sisters by Micki Berthelot Morency

A NOVEL PAIRING because I love books and wine.

This beautiful, heartfelt story, written in the author’s third language, adds up to… women empowering women plus empathic friendship equals sisterhood. Under the commonality of abuse, yes, sadly they have abuse in common, the four distinct characters in Micki Berthelot Morency’s The Island Sisters each wear a gold bangle bracelet in support of each other and form a bond that cannot be broken. This is a story I highly recommend for every woman to read. It is a rollercoaster of emotions amongst beautiful landscapes that draw the reader in as they struggle with, and cheer on, the Island Sisters. Have a hanky ready but also prepare to be empowered yourself.

In celebration of sisterhood, I found SISTER WINE’s beautiful rosé with “an amazing flavor and nose while retaining just a hint of sweetness. You'll taste some ripe strawberry, watermelon, and light raspberry. This wine is fresh and balanced perfectly between flavor and crisp acidity.” Just reading those words puts me right in the middle of an island!

Even SISTER WINE’s humble beginnings share some of the main themes as does The Island Sisters. The idea for Sister Wine came about as “girls shared stories and wanted a refreshing wine that was just for them. Something that was a reminder of a strong sisterhood, a family not only by blood but by the unconditional love we give. It became the wine that's great just to hang with. Not too big, not too bold, an easy and refreshing drink that goes with anything, like a long-lasting friendship, or a conversation that you really never want to end.”
