Improbably Yours by Kerry Anne King

A NOVEL PAIRING because I love books and wine.

Improbably Yours by Kerry Anne King is a tale of love, loss, and self-acceptance where everyone has secrets yet finds magic in the everyday. Blythe might seem to have it all in the beginning but figures out soon enough it isn’t what she wants. Thanks to her knowing grandmother, she visits an unconventional touristy island for a treasure hunt of sorts. On the island, she meets Flynn and his niece Savannah and shares in their loss of loved ones. Improbably Yours pulls at your heartstrings, keeping you turning page after page. I am very much excited to read another story of Ms. King’s.

I searched and searched for just the right wine for this treasure hunt and dug deep for clues for the perfect match. Even once found, I had to dig deeper because this wine wasn’t out in the open, not easily found. I finally unearthed them in the grasp of a distributor called 3 Finger Wine Company. The clues were hard to follow because each Treasure Hunter Wine is a one-off. There is a finite number of bottles created each year where they are finished- the wine makers blend the hints of flavors and suggestions of aromas from wines bought from other wineries and secretly create their magic- then bottle it. so, when they are gone, they’re gone. The fruity, lush wine I chose is Treasure Hunter’s Petit Sirah 2016 (Not Syrah nor Shiraz. Petit Sirah is an entirely different grape varietal. See, you learned something new.) I mainly chose this smooth, fruit-forward, chocolatey with a touch of black pepper Petite Shirah because its name struck a chord with me. Treasure Hunter’s “The Five Second Rule” Petit Sirah 2016. If each one of Kerry Anne’s character’s in Improbably Yours had an extra five seconds, or altered a certain five seconds in their pasts, their futures might just have turned out differently.
